Using the Software

The PCA System software is designed to calculate buy and sell advice according to its dynamic scale-trading algorithm. The 2 main functions are simulations; which give trade advice going forward based on the current price of a stock, and portfolio management, where subsequent trades are entered in the program.

The navigation control below allows you to move between sections of the software.

The main screen of the program is the Portfolio Explorer , which is accessed by clicking the top link in the left navigation. From the Portfolio Explorer, you can create a portfolio or watchlist, add equities and manage all your portfolios all in one place.

The Equity Advisor link brings up the trade advice and settings on the current active holding.

The Chart Analysis link opens the chart screen where you can view charts of your holdings and portfolios. Select chart views from the drop-down box.

The Trade History link will bring up a grid containing the details of all trades in a holding. There is no trade history on a Simulation. The trade history grid keeps track of your intitial purchase and all subsequent trades.

Clicking the Get Trade Advice link will get a current quote on all stocks in all portfolios, and open the Portfolio Explorer view.

At the top of the Portfolio Explorer screen is a drop down box where you can choose to view the portfolios by Position Summary or Trade Advice. The Trade advice view is useful for quickly determining if any of the holdings are on a buy or sell at the current price.

PCA comes pre-loaded with a Sample Portfolio containing several popular ETF's, already set up as holdings in a portfolio The Sample Portfolio lets you experiment with the settings and work with the program before you create your own Watchlists or Portfolios. You can add stocks to the Sample Portfolio or delete any of the pre-loaded stocks. To get the trade advice on these sample stocks make sure the Sample Portfolio shows in the Portfolio drop-down box, then choose the stock from the drop-down box labeled Ticker. Click the Get Advice button and it will load the stock into the Equity Manager to make it active.

Each Holding is independent of all the others and has it's own allocated cash reserve. Each holding has it's own Position Management Settings, which can be changed at any time once the stock is loaded into the equity advisor.

Once a holding is set up in a portfolio, you must load it into the Equity advisor to make it active. To do this simply select the Portfolio containing the stock from the drop-down box labeled Portfolio, then select the stock you wish to work with from the srop-down box labeled Ticker. Click the Get Trade Advice button and it PCA will get a current quote and open the Equity advisor screen where you can work with the holding.

If you type a ticker symbol that does not exist in a portfolio into the Ticker Symbol box and click the Get Trade advice button, the program will run a Simulation on that stock and give trade advice going forward based on the current price.
