Getting Started with PCA for Windows

If you are new to Position Cost Averaging, or are not sure of the theories behind it or the benefits of PCA investing, please see the user group site at:Stocksystem.net

Now, Lets Get Started!

On this page we will talk about how to use the software to run simulations, create and manage portfolios and surf the web in the PCA. We hope you find it helpful.

Lets start by running a simulation.

On the left side of the PCA in the Navigation Tabs you will find one called "PCA Simulator", Click that and then select the top link in the navigation window called "Simulator".

Now you should be looking at the simulator screen, in the top tool bar, enter a ticker symbol in the dropdown box provided. (see above)

The PCA system will be set by default to simulate 500 shares of the stock over a one year period, backwards from today. You can now run the simulation by entering a ticker symbol and hitting the "Enter" key on your keyboard.

The PCA will go to the online data source and retrieve the historical quotes and analyze the data with the PCA algorithm. This process wil take just a few seconds and the outputs will pop into the simulator screen.

You can also select for the PCA to retrieve data from any time period by clicking the "from" date button and the "to" date button

Clicking one of the date buttons shown below will open the calendar shown at the right. You can select the year from the dropdown box and MUST select a date on which to start or end the simulation data query.

You can also select the type of data you want, Daily, Weekly or Monthly

Select the type of data you want first, or else the dates will reset by default to...

Daily = 1 Year

Weekly = 2 Years

Monthly = 5 Years

Now you are ready to read the output from the simulation. Run your mouse over the various sections to get "pop up" text about that section.

This section gives the overall performance of this equity in the simulated scenario. It also shows risk adjusted return data, as well as some comparisons to Buy and Hold investor performance. This section shows what the current trade advice would be NOW if you had been managing this holding in PCA for the simulated period. This area gives the current position data, as compared to the beginning data. These are the settings being used to manage the trading in the simulation. You can enter new values and click the "Save Position Settings" button and then recalculate by clicking the "Recalculate" button. This is where you select the dates, and data type for the simulation.
